The grill and hob ignite and work fine, but the oven will not self-ignite. If you light it yourself it works fine but will not do it alone

Sam has advised that he will get Simon to have another look at the oven and see if he can establish whether the thermocouple needs replacing

      Hi Sam,

I think that this is probably an issue with the thermocouple, please could you ask Simon to check that when he tries to ignite the oven, that the oven is clicking, he needs to look at the thermocouple to see if it is flashing /sparking and whether it is near the oven burner.

Quite often with old ovens the thermouple gets moved when the oven is cleaned so that it doesn’t line up with the burner. If this is the case, Simon just needs to move it back nearer the burner. The other thing to check for is where the little white clay bit is on the ignitor, it sometimes get a build up of dirt/ grease which stops it working.

If none of these works, it might well need a replacement thermocouple. If you get Simon to give us the oven details we can get one ordered.

      Hope this helps.
