There is no flue box in the unit so Steve is not sure whether we can retro fit this very easily, we will have to construct the flue box as well. This will be a long job.

Good morning Linda,
I hope you enjoyed your short break if that is where you were on Thursday & Friday.
Let me update you with the Swift Loire saga, with which we are pleased but with one stunning exception.
The delivery and siting went really well. Chris & George were great and very careful with everything. Full marks to them.
However, you can imagine how my heart sank when I first went into the caravan and instantly I noticed the electric fire (which we just cannot use) instead of the gas fire we ordered at extra cost. I just cannot believe how this was missed.
Needless to say, this was very disappointing and really took the edge off the excitement of the new caravan.
We are very keen to get this resolved quickly as we have no heat in the caravan and the nights are still chilly.
What would have been a relatively simple job in the factory, will not be easy now - and disruptive and inconvenient to say the least, as you can imagine.
1. Gas pipes will need to be installed under the sited caravan around the support jacks
2. I think the installed gas pipes are above the underfloor insulation. If so, the new pipes will need to be insulated.
3. The sewerage and water supply pipes are installed and should these need to be removed & refixed, there will be a cost for that.
4. The roof will need to be penetrated for the gas flue and I am concerned to avoid rainwater leaks.
5. The gutter may need to be removed & refixed to avoid damage.
6. I am concerned about damage to the ceiling and internal decorations.
7. I do not want a narrow ‘add on’ to the wall in the lounge to cover the flue internally which would look awful, so I would like to see what is proposed internally before work starts.
8. There will inevitably be some mess but I expect the finished product to be ‘as new’.
I really would like sight of the proposed internal ‘finished product’ before work starts.
Could you please treat this as high priority as we want to use the caravan in the coming weeks and have made – maybe premature - arrangements for family visitors.
Maybe we can speak when you have settled in and now I have got all this off my chest.
Sorry to dump this on you on you first morning back.
Many thanks.
with regards
Peter Davey

Called to client but call went to voicemail. Left detailed message explaining that we can do this, the parts have been ordered and initial delivery date of 3 weeks has been given, however we have asked for urgent attention and earlier date if possible. Assured him this is top priority and we will get this done as quickly as possible. Left him my direct line number should he have any questions etc.

Mrs Davey called and we had a long chat about the job. He seems happy with our progress but had two little questions that just need to be checked to fully reassure him.
1) Does the fire have igniter that does not require electric?
2) Is the chimney breast we have ordered completed and big enough to house the fire.
Advised I will double check and confirm accordingly.

Hi Karen,
It was nice to speak to following your voicemail message.
I look forward to receiving confirmation on the following
1. The replacement fireplace/bulkhead will be as (or similar to) the illustration of the ‘Burgundy’ gas fire/bulkhead shown on page 34 of the 2015 swift brochure to accommodate the depth of the gas fire and flue to the roof line.
2. You kindly offered to check that the Curvescape gas fire is ignited solely by a piezo push button.
.
We have a mirror that fits on the bulkhead on 3 fittings screwed to the redundant bulkhead. If the mirror is standard, as I suspect, we should be able to re-use the fixings.
Thanks & we’ll speak in due course.

Called Mr Davey to see if we can PDI tomorrow. Mr Davey will not be there and not possible to access van as he forgot to leave key at park but he'll be there next week and will let us know when we can go. Alternatively he can leave key with park for alternative date. Advised him fire has a piezo ignition so not requirement for electricity.

Chimney Breast has arrived. Called Mr Davey and advised we have all parts now required to complete work which we will start on Friday and complete on Monday. Mr Davey mentioned he was waiting for the job to be completed and then he would be sending a 'big letter'. He also said that he expected it to be thoroughly cleaned and in an orderly state when we leave. He will let the site owner know when we will be coming and advised key can be obtained from him (Tim)

Mr Davey returned my call. Advised him all complete, relayed Steve's comments about the regulator, pipework and pressure. Mr Davey said he would be writing a letter of complaint in respect of the time it has taken to complete. He will email to me to forward on but said he would put a copy in the post as well.
