Tim asked why the wheel didn't come off when the van was unloaded, I have advised that I don't know the answer to that, but assume that it might need to work it's way loose.

RE: Rejection ABI Oakley 1731105 dispatch date August 2015
wheel falling off and causing damage to the holiday home

This is a really tricky one, I understand ABI not accepting this as the van was dispatched in August 2015, however this is a case where the van was unloaded and stayed in the same spot until they have decided to put the unit on the pitch.

As I am no expert on the workings of a chassis, I have now shown the photographs to our siting team and they have advised that, in this instance, it does appear that there is evidence to show washer was missing. (in fact as I handed the pictures to them without even having time to tell them what they were looking at, I was advised that the wheel had come off because no washer had been fitted)

Apparently, the metal shaft is showing signs of rounding off which is a tell tale sign that there has been movement of the wheel without a washer. They have stated that they would expect to see remains of the washer between the bolt and the metal shaft if it had been present, there is no evidence of this on these photographs.

I next asked the question, would the wheel not have fallen off during delivery if the washer was missing and I have been informed that this isn’t always the case and that it is quite reasonable for the wheel to work its way off after several movements of the unit.

With this in mind, please could you review this decision, prior to me confirming the rejection with the site.
