Mr Parker called wanting to know if i had heard anything, advised i did try yesterday but Bankside had not received the report back, contacted Verina again, she has now spoken to her engineer and he has advised there are some small rust patches on the chassis, she thinks the only solution is to go back down and re-paint the patches with hamerite paint,
Called Mr Parker back, he is not happy with this, is thinking of going to the solicitor for advise, the chassis has already been treated 3 times since he has had the van and does not want this to go on any longer, he is going down to the van next week and will take photo's which he will email across.

Verina from Bankside has emailed to advise they are prepared to re-paint the affected areas of the chassis, they understand Mr Parker will not be in agreement to have this re-painted but under the terms of the warranty they have a duty of offer remedial work to rectify the problem, as the chassis can not be removed or replaced the only option available is to re-paint the structure which is what they are prepared to do until the end of the warranty period which is april 2015.
Spoke to Ade, she has asked for me to speak to Darren to see if there is any chassis treatment he can offer, also to send the pictures over to Jo at Willerby to see if there is anything they can do, Darren would like a response from Willerby before we offer anything, he would like to know what Mr and Mrs Parker would be happy with,

I have spoken to Jo Ann, she has advised that she has received the photographs etc from Claire, and she is not happy with the response from Bankside, she is going to contact her and discuss the matter. Jo Ann and I discussed this and thought that the chassis should have some sort of additional treatment prior to them painting it. She is going to put this to Bankside.

I have spoken to Jo Ann, she has spoken to Bankside and they are not willing to do anything apart from paint the chassis, I have questioned whether this needs to be painted in silver, could we use a black paint so that it is not so obvious if it begins to rust.
Jo Ann went back to Verina who advised that they can paint the chassis black and it is a higher grade/quality, but they hadn't used it previously because the original chassis was silver.

I have updated Claire and advised that she is to go back to Mr Parker and offer the alternative paint (black) I have told her if she needs to sway them by saying that we will check the chassis at the end of the season and again prior to the warranty running out.
If really necessary, I have authorised Claire to offer for Surf Bay to attend to the unit and inspect the chassis and treat as necessary for the next couple of years (max of five)

Jo from Willerby has advised the customer has a Zimphos Chassis which has a 3 year guarantee with Bankside which was extended by 1 year after the re-paint with Hammerite last year, With Willerby Holiday Homes is is also covered for 3 years, if the chassis was to fail within 5 years they would cover but the warranty does not cover rust ( see screen shot)

Mr Parker has called to advise he has now spoken to the company who supplies the paint, they have advised the rust needs to be cleaned of with rust killer, once this has been done the paint can be applied which should then stop any further rust, Mr Parker would like assurance rust killer will be used as he knows they normally grind the rust off.

Having discussed this further with my Manager, our Senior Sales & Commercial Manager, I must re-confirm that our only offer is:
• Grinding the old paint off by using a grinding disc
• Re-paint the chassis with Tetra Shutz bitumen based paint.
We will not be using a ‘rust killer’ on the chassis.
As we supplied this chassis to WHH’s, we have both a legal and moral responsibility to repair the chassis during its warranty period. On that basis to carry out the above mentioned procedure is to comply with the standard practise for re-painting chassis. If Mr Parker declines this work, my only option is to close the referral in our system.
I trust this clarifies our position.

I have spoken to Bill Hibbs who has advised grinding does not get rid of the rust, the rust will sit in the pockets of the chassis and just keep coming back, he does not think using the tetra shutz is a very good idea as once it has been applied to the chassis you cant get it off, on the other vans he has had to treat he used wire wool to get rid of the rust then applied waxoil, this has a rust killer in it, if the rust does return he uses a thinner then treats the rust again, spoke to Ade, she thinks this maybe something we can offer if the customer agrees, tried to call Mr Parker no answer

I have spoken to Darren he has asked me to put something in writing to Mr Parker regarding our offer for waxoyl. I cannot find an address or e-mail for Mr Parker, I will ask Claire for the details

Darren has had his meeting with Ladram Bay they have confirmed that Mr Parker would like to take us up on his offer of a chassis treatment and a yearly check of the chassis, I have asked Darren if there is anything further he requires from the customer care department he has advised that he will organise for Bill Hibbs to attend
